Sometimes image quality doesn’t matter when you’re printing documents—they’re for your own personal reference, they’re works in progress, or for any other number of reasons, you just don’t need them to look their best.
Other times, such as when you’re presenting documents to a client or want to best-looking documents for your hard copy archives, having great image quality is important. In today’s entry on the Southwest Office Solutions blog, we’ll take a look at how to not only manage the different print modes on your Xerox device, but how to get the best image quality possible for those occasions where you want your documents to look perfect.
Let’s take a look:
Understanding Xerox Print Modes & How They Impact Image Quality
The biggest impact on print quality is generally going to be two things. First, the quality of the document you’re printing, and second, the print mode being used.
Ensure that the file you’re printing from has a high resolution, particularly for any pictures in the document. You may have to use your computer or mobile device to review the document.
Next, make sure you’re using the proper print mode. Since devices differ, check the Xerox Support page for your model of printer and find out how to adjust the print mode settings. Draft mode, for example, is a low quality image mode designed to save toner—great for internal documents, not great for presentations. Generally, you’ll want to set your print mode to high resolution mode or presentation mode.
Not a Configuration Issue? Here’s How to Make Sure Your Device is Prepared for Great Image Quality
Assuming all of your software settings are correctly configured for the best image quality, it’s possible that a physical issue is interfering with the image quality of your documents. This is especially common for copy prints—if the scan glass on the device hasn’t been cleaned for a while, do so and see if it doesn’t make a substantial difference.
You may also want to print a configuration report and review the settings on your printer and check any diagnostic warnings that appear. In the event that something is wrong, such as a part malfunction or defect, you should be made aware of it in this way.
